The Boîte World Music Cafe is the beating heart of the Boîte. Regular high quality acoustic concerts presented in intimate venues in and around Melbourne, Australia.
This massed choir world music project started at Hamer Hall in 1999, heralding the new millennium. 17 years later it still inspires musicians, singers and audiences withexciting performances on a grand stage. Singers rehearse in Melbourne and 8 regional Victorian centres.
The Boîte Schools Chorus engages with 1000 students from 50 schools each year, presenting concerts in Melbourne, Bairnsdale and Albury, with more in the pipeline.
The concert themes introduce students to music, rhythms, languages and ideas well beyond their neighbourhoods - Indigenous Australia, Africa, East Timor, and, next year, The Carribean.
In 2017, the festival launches its inaugural Singers' Festival at The Abbotsford Convent, Melbourne. The 40 workshops and concerts can be separated by fine food, wine and coffee. It’s the perfect start to the year, and is a must for singers keen to immerse themselves in a weekend of music.
The Boite Millennium Chorus rehearses in up to ten regional Victorian centres. The Boite Schools Chorus holds concerts in Ballarat, Bairnsdale and Albury, and is steadily expanding to other areas. The Singers' Festival will hold the 26th event in Central Victoria in January.
The Boite organises interstate and international cultural tours led by artists. Stella Savy is organising the second tour of the Seychelles in April 2016.
