QiQi

QiQi is a Melbourne-based guzheng artist, composer and multi-instrumentalist whose practice brings together Chinese traditional music, jazz, contemporary composition and improvisation.

Performing across guzheng and double bass, QiQi creates original solo and collaborative works shaped by storytelling, connection and shared experience. Their performances range from intimate improvisations to multidisciplinary productions incorporating live music, visual storytelling and audience participation.

Their recent projects include Elysian Blues, an original collaboration between guzheng, jazz piano and percussion, and Echoes of the Earth, an immersive performance exploring our relationship with the natural world. Elysian Blues was nominated for Best New Work by an Emerging Artist at Melbourne Fringe 2024. Its sequel, Elysian Blues II, received a Judges’ Pick and two award nominations at Melbourne Fringe 2025.

QiQi has performed across festivals, museums, galleries, theatres and community spaces, both as a soloist and in collaboration with musicians, dancers, orchestras and multidisciplinary artists. Through each performance, they invite audiences to encounter the guzheng in ways that feel vibrant, expressive and alive.
