Sue Johnson has co-produced/performed concerts in collaboration with many of Melbourne’s great creative artists in venues ranging from the Sydney Opera House to Northern Territory communities & the New Victory Theatre in New York, concert halls in Berlin, Vienna, France, Canada, Hong Kong, Singapore, Laos & China & flash mobs under old bluestone bridges in Coburg. She was co-founder of vocal quintet Coco’s Lunch (“one of Australia’s best exports” – Vancouver Sun)
Sue's published scores for choirs are sung worldwide. She has co-released 12 critically acclaimed albums, written film & dance scores, co-created 4 theatre shows, including the critics’ favourite ‘Still Awake Still’ (“unleash some extraordinary dreams”– New York Times)
Johnson was awarded the City of Darebin Citizen Of The Year 2021, Montsalvat Yalumba Jazz Medal, & nominated for 5 ARIAs, APRA, Australian World Music Award, numerous USA Contemporary A Cappella Recording Awards.
Sue has led vocal improvisations & completed commissions for massed voices. She taught improvisation at the Victorian College of the Arts for over a decade & toured extensively playing piano with many great Australian improvisers including Judy Jacques, Brian Brown & women’s jazz quintet Morgana & collaborated with leading arts institutions including Musica Viva.
