About the Event

Part concert, part artist talk, The Boite’s Song Appetit series has been delivering shows in a unique, intimate format that gives audiences an opportunity to not only hear the musicians perform but learn a little bit about what’s behind their music. This month's event features Anthony Schulz and Adrian Sherriff, highly-regarded representatives of the incredible diversity present in the music scene here in Naarm (Melbourne).  The shakuhachi (flute) and piano accordion both share their ancestry amongst ancient Chinese instruments. The precursor to the shakuhachi first immigrated to Japan in the late 7th century and subsequently, the accordion was developed in Germany in the early 19th century. Internationally acclaimed artists Adrian Sherriff (shakuhachi) and Anthony Schulz (accordion) reunite these two long-lost siblings in cross-cultural musical conversation. In this musical reunion, the instruments share the tales of their adventures and embark together on new musical journeys. The Boîte presents Song Appetit with Schulz and Sherriff 7pm, November 4 Live streamed  Enquiries www.boite.com.au or 9417 1983
