About the Event
The Melbourne Mandolin Orchestra, comprised of mandolins, mandolas, mandocello, classical guitars and double bass, is a 25-member strong community-based group with a long and rich history of performing the mandolin orchestra repertoire of traditional, classical and contemporary music in Melbourne and abroad.
In this concert, conducted by Werner Ruecker, we explore the rich and diverse plucked string music of the European continent, including the World Premiere of "Desert Images" a newly commissioned mandola concerto composed by Werner Ruecker featuring Michelle Wright as soloist. Other music will include works by Isaac Albéniz, Konrad Wolki, Olivier Métra, Mario Maciocchi, Mark Davis and Pablo de Sarasota.
